I'm excited for this to be mainstream. OAuth is definitely a step in the right direction, but many times scopes are broader than they need to be and can be abused. AFIAK, zkTLS can provide derivate values; i.e "You are over 18" (T/F?) verse "Your birthdate is".

I got really into breathwork a few years ago. For the longest time I struggled to find an app that had anything more than basic functionality. Also, I found it absurd that most wanted to charge a subscription fee.

I ended up creating my own application that lets me create advanced, multi-stage exercises. I spent time building the trimmings that I felt other applications were also lacking such as: background visuals with procedurally generated shaders, easy gestures, etc.

I think one day I'll publish it to the app stores so other people who had similar desires have something.

Looks like it will be a big help to RN. However, I can't confirm that it's a drop in replacement.

To be honest, I think your original gut feeling is correct. Keep doing what you're doing. Especially for small companies, the hiring process is about finding someone who can adapt and push themselves. Seeing that you experimented and pursued formal certification means that your teachable and ambitions.

Be merciless about it. I have an app called selfcontrol (mac). It lets you blacklist websites on your computer for a given period of time. I would recommend doing 6 hour blocks at a min. I actually have mine set to blacklist fb/reddit for two weeks.

Also, next time you begin a project just sit for a minute or two. Try to clear your mind of outside worries or expectations for the work. It generally helps with focusing on the task at hand.

This is something I'm currently working through as well. As one of the founder, it's not a situation where I can (or would) get up and go. For me there's obviously a passion for what we do and what we've accomplished. On the other hand, it feels like the cartoon where the carrot is being dangled in front of the horse.

Lately, I've been doing a lot more meditation. I'm trying to be as regular as possible with (at least 2x a day). It's helped quite a bit with feeling overwhelmed which is the biggest contributor to that sense of apathy.

The other thing I've been doing is working on a framework for creating a good work/life balance. As a side project, I'm trying to build a small desktop app that makes it easy to follow the framework. Ideally though, the goal is be presence when I'm working and focus wholly on that work. When I'm not "at work" to turn that off. Not having that off switch is something that seriously exhausts me.

I did the same, but never got the same feeling as the first time I took Modafinil. First time was great. Second time was good. By the fourth of fifth time it was only okay.

Do you have the same experience each time?

I had similar experiences, effect was much weaker after 4-5 days but I think it was better for work. Initial 3-4 days were very similar to taking cocaine, I was too high to do good work.

Well, I have that first-time experience with adderall and modafinil if I've given myself a break from it. Medication "holidays" (periods of abstention) are pretty much standard practice for stimulant meds like adderall to avoid tolerance/dosage creep and anecdotally this is true for modafinil in my experience as well.

Modafinil is instant release, so it's hard to take therapeutically. Tolerance builds too quickly.

I'd be interested in an slow release format since the drug can be bought over the counter where I live.

Though it's not even in the same ballpark as amphetamine. I fly back to the States just to re-up my Vyvanse prescription.

Where do you live? For what condition is it sold over the counter?

Primarily narcolepsy.

The tolerance builds up quickly, regardless.

Well, I said "too quickly". You have to address tolerance for all drugs in this space, but some are ridiculous.

I couldn't even feel the Modafinil on day 3 without taking 5x the dose. That's a bit silly.

Instant release amphetamine ends up being more like a party drug for the same reason, though less extreme.

Compare that to a slow release amphetamine (prodrug) like Vyvanse where most people can hit a 2+ week cycle of constant use, or an indefinite cycle by only dosing a fraction of the week.

if you follow what other people do when using modafinil, they sometimes mix coffee w/ small amounts of modafinil which improves it's overall offectiveness. I personally prefer the mental zing of Loose Leaf Black Tea.

This won't help with tolerance.

I had, increase of dose didn't make a difference.

I started listening to audiobooks as an alternative to reading. With work and other activities it began too hard to commit to a book. I would start but never have the time to progress. Now I just take my headphone with me and listen as I travel from place to place. I take the metro 45 mins each way during the week. I'm so glad that time is spent with a book as oppose to just listening to music.

Our company's main application is built on top of ember 1.13. We've pushed off doing the upgrade and are leaning towards a move to react (all our mobile apps are done in RN). This might be a solution.

Upgrading from 1.13 to 2.x isn't terribly challenging. (1.12 to 1.13 was much worse.) What's holding you back?

Just now seeing this. Honestly it's just a big project and everything else in our solution has moved on to react. Upgrading would be far less work for sure but it's still an investment.
