How is that ironic?

I've heard from a person that they like purposefully slam the door (not pull the handle down and close it silently) in order to alert other people that someone walked in/out. Is that not abnormal?

In a house where I lived long ago, one guy would pull doors closed with a wrist snap. His girlfriend did this too, so if they were shuttling in and out of bedroom and bathroom, it could sound like a toy-gun fight. But then there was the winter night when the door (wooden) bounced back a little before it could latch, and eventually came all the way open.

My neighbours do this. I guess I should appreciate them alerting the nearby residents that they have returned home or are entering or exiting a room in their house.

I do this so people know I’m in the bathroom

You could also just find a book that tells you another way of getting out, no?

How would you tell the difference between that book and a similar book with a plausible but flawed escape plan?

To paraphrase The Incredibles: when every book is there, no book is there.

How would you tell the difference between a book that has your life story in it and a similar book with inaccuracies in all the details you don't remember?

The book qualifies this by giving everyone a perfect memory of every moment of their lives.

> I found I could recall every detail of my life; every event ever experienced I could remember with perfect clarity. I could remember every word on every page I'd ever read. Every conversation. Every tax form I'd ever filled out. I could reconstruct every second of every day I'd been alive from the moment of my birth until the day I finally shut my eyes at the end.

> This clarity of memory surprised me the first time I tried reviewing the past, but it was all there. (This was to be the greatest curse of Hell. Sometimes I would reply my entire life again and again for thousands of years. Remembering all the things I could have done differently, all the things... No. I won't go there now. I must tell this story).

This naturally evolved on my mind to, "Whose (or what) life are you thinking of when you think of your own?"

Thanks! Does that mean that you're only able to work in a very specific environment?

I'm considering ordering a new laptop, and am very sad to think that i won't be able to use its laptop/portable functionality, since more than 30 mins without a special keyboard results in pain.

I'm lucky enough to be working from home -- though in the office I had an adjustable desk, which I definitely miss. Being able to fine-tune the height was very nice. I tend to end up working on my laptop keyboard anyway, at the dining room table or whatever, just to switch things up even though it's hard on my hands; the Moonlander is pretty portable though, so I can take that upstairs or to whatever table I'm at. My work computer is a MacBook so it's definitely doable with the laptop!

The other thing I didn't think to mention is that I've used a variety of wrist and arm braces to varying effects -- the one I like best offers mild wrist support and also stabilizes the thumb joint, which was giving me trouble. However, if I get a lot of ulnar neuropathy bothering my pinkie and ring finger, I've an immobilizing elbow brace to sleep in which tends to help as well.

Anecdotally, that thumb joint (I think it's the CNC joint or something like that) gets very unhappy with me when I text on my phone too much, so it's not just computer usage that causes problems!

Thanks. Does this not feel like a "band-aid"? Do you notice your pain getting progressively worse with time?

Not not at all. Again, I know this sound snake-oil-esq but it feels "regenerative" - I thought it was just a pain killer (and hey, better than tylenol etc even if it is) at the start, but the more I used it and stretched, the less I needed it and the longer the pain was gone, after I couple months, I only need it every few weeks. (28/yr through 33 was just continual pain because of computer work.) I get a good amount rubbed in and really really push and stretch deep in between the joints into the wrist, working it in till the muscles are very relaxed and supple, then just the usual wrist stretching/movements you'd expect. To an extent everything is a band-aid I suppose, damage is done, but this genuinely seem to do more than just kill the pain. The only thing I'd say about CBD/THC cream is I think that the plant they use to make it probably matters a lot, and so finding one that works for you could be needle in the haystack, this one is great for me.

Suggested reading: "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" by Ursula K. Le Guin. It's a short read.

Is the implication that China is better or worse in this regard than the USA or Europe?

> The fact that they would have no choice if they were subject to China's jurisdiction.

Wouldn't the reverse be true in the US? Assume that actually supported China's radical opinions, while being subject to US jurisdiction - wouldn't they be forced out of business? Isn't that what's going on now?

> You can't choose to do something you're being forced to do, therefore if you do it, it wasn't your choice.

How is this different to - making a note for every idea in an article - putting a hashtag of the article name and the idea name in the note ?

Has anyone had any experience trying to prove the authenticity of a signature? I remember reading somewhere that there are only three universities in the world, that have a department specializing in detecting signature forgery.

Also, am I correct in the assumption that U.S. doesn't have access to non-dubbed versions of foreign series?
