Hopefully because Hackernews was becoming NSANews.com. That shit was obnoxious. When 20 of the top 25 posts are about one topic you might as well open a new tab and do a search for that topic.

I don't mind the NSA articles, since I can just skip them depending on my mood, but I was a bit miffed that the iPhone 5S thread was all about "zomg fingerprints!" Nobody wanted to talk about 64-bit A7, the uses of the fingerprint sensor, etc.

Exactly. Thank God. And it was getting hysterical (not in the funny way).

Please don't post on HN to ask or tell us something (e.g. to ask us questions about Y Combinator, or to ask or complain about moderation). If you want to say something to us, please send it to info@ycombinator.com.

I did notice a sudden lack of NSA stories, I just thought the community came to its senses. Glad to know there's someone who cares about the quality of the site. I, for one, applaud the move.

Hm, if it's for real, I would like to know the answer too.

Because so many interesting things happened beside NSA stories? Or so I hope.

I like NASA didnt they go to the moon?

I would say all these three stories are more Apple related which makes it even more strange.

Probably because he felt it was turning into cryptome.org during the crypto wars. (Obsessive, posts anything related to the subject.)

He's not allowed to tell you.

pg is clearly in the pocket of the NSA and is trying to control the discussion.

LOL!

I see three articles on the first two pages that are related to the recent revelations about the NSA.
