Fixing My Yamaha Electone Me-50: An FM Synthesizer Home Organ from 1986 (nicole.express)

Only three weeks ago did we load my Electone FE-70 into a van so my mate could take it. I rescued it for free but we had to lift it down four flights of awkward stairs like Laurel and Hardy. Outstanding instruments, enormous fun, they look fantastic and they’re worthless. If I could have brought it here when I moved I would have. Such fun to play with the rhythm tracks and accompaniments. So many buttons to play with.

If the lids closed flat, at least I could have justified it as a table…

The wooden Electones like that one are much harder to move than plastic ones like the ME-50, that's for sure!

Yeah, and one thing I wondered was whether the physical switches on the older models negated the need for any kind of memory, and if so, the change seems like a step backwards.

I curiously clicked on one of the links within the article, and found myself a half hour later down a rabbit hole of interesting reading. Definitely bookmarking to come back!

Interesting reading. I wonder if the author considered connecting the 5 volt line to a long lasting battery (with regulator) ? (and disconnecting the capacitor)

I recently saw one of these at a thrift shop. It very well could be the same unit. I'm more into "real" synths, I was mainly impressed by the number of buttons and the dual manuals.
