It's his name. Which other name should they have used?


The usual formula for clickbait articles like this is to just say "He was a Google engineer. He was also a prolific thief" so that you don't get any information from the headline.

In this case, the editor has made an explicit decision to use his name to maximize outrage.


Is there any evidence for the 'usual formula' or the editor's reasoning?

It seems that the parent comment is written to maximize outrage.


It does play on racial stereotypes where one would think it's more likely that if someone is stealing IP for China they have a Chinese name but I'm sure that's not always true.


Wouldn't US clickbait articles generally include the skin colour of the person instead?
