I don't know why they are referring to this as a "nurse." Sure there are some nurses like NP's that can give medical advice. Most nurses in a hospital setting are hands on and in-person interacting with patients implementing care as prescribed by MD's. A video call on a tablet is not going to replace that.
I could see this replacing tele visits. Of course, what happens when this AI reads a Summary of Benefits and Coverage document from an insurer and can only respond with "unfortunately your plan does not allow me to..."
Right? I have friends who are nurses, sitting at home and taking video calls regarding the delivery of medical advice is almost precisely the polar opposite of what they do. In many cases they're even legally prohibited from doing so!
Why not target a fast-food application, where taking orders would have no liability implications? The $9/hr would be far less than the $15/hr some of the more liberal states have set as minimum wage.
Because the workers taking your order are doing other stuff that a robot can't do, and they can't be paid $9 less an hour for not taking orders on top of that other stuff.
Too expensive considering the risks and that fact that most people won't want their health to be in the hands of flawed AI, which can't even change a bedpan.
