Yes, it’s so silly to worry about what we’re doing to the planet. Absolutely ridiculous to suggest any solutions that may impact rich people’s hedonism in any way. This may be the dumbest thing I’ve ever read.
Chinese aluminum makes up about 8% of our domestic utilization and about 15% of aluminum in China comes from Xinjiang. So this is probably less than 1% of our aluminum in the US. I don’t know if Uighur labor moves markets that much. That said we should hold China accountable for their crimes against humanity (and Bush, Cheney, Netanyahu, amongst others too.)
