Apple is killing the iPhone’s silent switch (techcrunch.com)

Cost-saving change. They will say everything else, but it all boils down to cost-saving.

If that switch costs just one dollar, and then they remove it from billions of iPhones, they have saved billions of dollars.

Mind you, they won't reduce the price of the iPhone by charging you a dollar less.


It's still there and it isn't a "silent" switch.

What I want is a button that severs the phone's speaker connection. Period.
