I'm of the opinion that officials who declare a site is "safe for habitation" or whatever it was termed originally should personally guarentee this by habitating onsite for at least 3 months thereafter, drinking and bathing in the local water, visiting the outdoors locations, and so forth.


Absolutely, like the (apocryphal?) accounts of Roman engineers being made to stand under their bridges while the wood scaffolding was removed.
