Why does this look like a fake news site with an agenda?

> The Ohio Star – launched in 2018 – is a member of the Star News Digital Media family.

> Star News Digital Media, Inc. may look like a media company that produces local news, but a Snopes investigation reveals deep, undisclosed connections to political activism.

Oh

Book tip: Zoodiac by Neal Stephenson from the time when the environmentalist fight was just beginning. Sad to see how similar things are, you always need media attention to get these things sorted out.

EDIT: Looking at the publication history of Ohio star they have been writing about this multiple times the last weeks. Impressive. Nice to see that environmental agencies are setting up shop, too late in the game though.

Zodiac was great! The description of the effect on the consumers of the PCB-tainted items (not a spoiler) was spine-crawling.

I'm of the opinion that officials who declare a site is "safe for habitation" or whatever it was termed originally should personally guarentee this by habitating onsite for at least 3 months thereafter, drinking and bathing in the local water, visiting the outdoors locations, and so forth.

Absolutely, like the (apocryphal?) accounts of Roman engineers being made to stand under their bridges while the wood scaffolding was removed.

This should not come as a surprise to anyone.
