> The white power structure that owned all the television stations and newspapers in the South had over many years chosen not to listen to any legitimate Black voices and not to hear the growing feeling of Black protest. The white press of the South had never reported the thousands of informal meetings or the telephone calls the newspapers had received from mayors and police chiefs and judges and county attorneys and heads of chambers of commerce about what to cover and what not to cover and how best to deal with some local protest—protests that in the past had never become protests because they were never reported.

Classic journalism. Works wonders even today.

“ A day after returning home in December 1964 from a tour whose most important stop was Oslo, the Nobel Laureate for Peace joined a picket line at Atlanta’s Scripto Pen factory, where some 700 workers were striking for better wages for less skilled employees. Though it was a remarkably humble gesture for someone who had received such a lofty affirmation, King’s actions that day and his call for a nationwide boycott of Scripto products won him few friends in his hometown’s white, staunchly anti-union business community.”

You’re shadow banned fyi. I didn’t see anything too wrong with your comments so not sure why you are.

Thanks for the quote and link.

How are you replying to them, if they're shadow banned? Wouldn't that mean their comments aren't visible to the rest of us?

You can vouch for dead comments and bring them back (they can still end up dead again if flagged enough). Click on the timestamp for the dead comment and click on `vouch`. I don't know if there's a karma limit needed to vouch for comments.

And you can (and I think most people ought to) turn on `showdead` through your profile so you can see dead comments. Not all are worth vouching for, but many are.

I vouched for them. I looked at their profile and didn't see any reason for a shadow ban.

It wasn't shadowbanned; initially it got so many downvotes that it was greyed out and marked "dead".

When you see a comment unjustly downvoted to death you can still click on it and "vouch" for it -- if enough people do it comes back to life, which appears to be what happened here.

Are all their comments being downvoted? I was referring to all their recent comments. I vouched for them too.
