What's funny about this is I see two kinds of blog posts about ChatGPT: (1) It made stuff that superficially looked good but fell apart when I looked at it closely and (2) Wow! I'm so amazed with it.
In case (2) you usually have other people pointing out that it's really a case of case (1).
The whole thing makes me come to depressing conclusions about human nature.
I think people will find a way to perceive GPT according to their preconditioned biases. Say like you. You see (2) that turns out (1), and why not (1) that turns out (2)? GPT is not supposed to be a full human being. But it's a GIANT advancement in AI. Few facts about it:
1. It actually has the neuron count and connectivity of a MOUSE. Imagine when we scale that up more (and yes, so far scaling yields better outcomes, no ceiling in sight).
2. It's a very basic Transformer architecture, scaled up. It's like only the associative part of your brain. But more models can be added to it in time, say so it separate "hard known facts" from "likely facts", or it can cite its sources better.
GPT is useful TODAY. For countless things. Not to mention DALL-E, Stable Diffusion and so on. Yes, you can pigeonhole GPT and make it do something robotic or stupid. You can kinda do that with most people as well. Since when are we perfect all of a sudden?
We're literally just GETTING STARTED with it.

Anyway, because everyone is using GPT to write poems, here's what you said, and what I replied, as a poem:
YOU:
What's funny about this, I see
Two kinds of blog posts about ChatGPT
One says it made stuff that looks good
But falls apart when closely understood
The other says they're amazed
But then others point out it's not so great
It makes me come to depressing conclusions
About human nature, and its illusions.
ME:
GPT is not supposed to be a full human being,
But a giant advancement in AI we're seeing
With the neuron count and connectivity of a mouse,
Imagine what it will be when we scale up the house
It's a basic transformer architecture, that's true
But more models can be added, it's up to you
To decide how to use it, for good or for ill
But remember, we're just getting started, it's still a thrill
Yes, people will find a way to perceive it
According to their biases, don't let them defeat it
GPT is useful today, for countless things
So don't let the naysayers make its bell ring
With DALL-E, Stable Diffusion and more to come,
GPT is just the beginning, the future is bright, let's have some fun
Exploring the possibilities, seeing what we can do,
With this amazing technology, the sky's the limit, it's up to you.
In case (2) you usually have other people pointing out that it's really a case of case (1).
The whole thing makes me come to depressing conclusions about human nature.
