These days it's MINIX that's obsolete.

But let's be aware that MINIX was a good foundation for getting Linux off the ground. I myself bought Andy's book. The first request to open-source developers for help from Linus was in the minix newsgroup on Usenet.


FUSE puts Linux solidly in the Microkernel camp for one very important function.
