That chestnut is getting a bit old now.

For those of us who do have open source code on Github, the consensus is clear : despite the hype, most employers don't really look at Github in any depth. They mostly prefer to grill candidates, rather than look at what they've actually done. I guess it must be more enjoyable.

When I interview people I like to grill them on what they've actually done. All evidence you may find on a CV or on github is secondary to what they can actually speak to. That's my opinion of course, everyone has their way of finding good people.
