about:Staff Software Engineer - Predix Cloud

As Staff Software Engineer – Cloud Engineering & Operations, you will build the foundation for GE's Predix Cloud. You will be responsible for engineering and live site operations, deployment, monitoring, security and capacity management of systems at web scale in a cloud environment. Working closely with GE Software technical product managers, you will deliver the platform that runs GE's Industrial Internet.

In this role, you will: •Provide technical and governance experience in all aspects of cloud automation including: VM/OS Optimization, Infrastructure Service Integration & Automation, Security, Out-Of-Box Automation, Notifications/Approvals, 3rd Party Integration, Service/Support/Policy/Use Case Definitions, and Cloud Operations •Establish foundation for future implementations and automation requirements in the cloud, identify opportunities for automation and develop scalable solutions •Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders •Provide timely and accurate estimates for deliverables •Participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions •Lead and mentor members of the engineering team

Basic Qualifications: •Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience •Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, service engineering or cloud/online service operations or equivalent experience

Eligibility Requirements:

•Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills. •Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen •Must be willing to travel (roughly 10% of the time) •Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA

•Extensive experience with Linux (Deployment/Automation/ operations) •Strong Experience with Elastic Scaling and Automated Application Deployment on cloud solutions. •Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure. •Extensive experience with cloud automation tools - Chef, Terraform/CloudFormation •Experience in monitoring, metrics collection, and reporting using open source tools. •Excellent knowledge of one or more of scripting languages (Ruby, Python, Bash) •Experience with DevOps methodology and Continuous Delivery •Experience using cloud resource provisioning tools and systems •Strong communication, and time management skills •Strong interpersonal and written communication skills •Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-site organization •Experience working in Agile development environment •Comfortable and effective working in new areas that require experimentation and rapid problem solving •Flexible, continuous learner, willing to share knowledge •Ability to lead a team of engineers to deliver a cohesive solution
