Learn by doing. Make a profile on something like Elance, convince 1 person to pay you (dirt-cheap, will take 20+ bids) to build a basic site. Start with wordpress and move up, gradually increasing you skills, prices, and clients.
Per usual on HN, I think people take simple, fun utilities like this way too serious and try inject some philosophical ideal about loving your work blah blah blah. They dont get it. I like it. Good job.
Have been waiting for the day when I can share information that is relevant to the portion of my friends that know or actually care what Im talking about... How has facebook not integrated this before (other than going into privacy settings each and every time)?
I think it depends on what type of company you are starting... For any web-based startup, the lean route is the obvious choice (especially if you think you have an idea that will blow up)
