I don't know why we treat large stock portfolios as if it's a convinient savings account in these talks.
My financial teachings were always emergency fund -> 3-6 months of savings immediately accessible -> consider stocks (hire a financial planner if you don't know stocks) -> consider asset management. your first foray into saving if you're barely spacing by isn't to rely on the S&P 500.
Infosec builds cybersecurity education software (LMS for in-house content, as well as hands-on labs, etc.). We really like our mission of equipping the world to fight cybercrime, and we're building some really big, fun things.
Come join us if you love the pace, opportunity, and energy of a startup, but with the comfort and balance of a well-capitalized, bootstrapped, stable company.
We generally hire "full stack", but are certainly open to those who gravitate toward one end or the other stack. We are open to SRE types as well.

Using this event to think about what an asteroid hitting the ocean might be like is quite clever.
"The author suggested that with proper scale corrections, analogies could be drawn between the impulsive impact of the Lituya Bay rockfall to asteroid impact on ocean floor sediments and on such impulsive wave generation. Although, the trajectory angle, terminal velocity and total mass and density of material of an asteroid would be significantly different than those of the Lituya Bay rockfall, it was suggested that these could be scaled and adjusted for the purpose of validating a model of asteroid impact."
Repulsive is absolutely the right word for this effect.
Edit for one more thought on this: it also gave me an appreciation for vegans and vegetarians. I was eating chicken while tripping once and really had some inner conflict over if it was ok to eat another animal. I'll never be a vegetarian, but for a brief moment I understood what all my hippie friends are on about :)
Maybe just the awkward air in the room that he just can't shake. Perhaps the comment in a different setting would have merited just an apology to the room...but tossing that out there, in that particular time and place. Just wow.
