Or have watched Apple's behaviour with browsers on iOS (yes I know about the Chrome, that's just a facade on top of safari's render and js engine).

"I wonder if Amazon will ever compete with..." Yes has to be the assumption at this point

Visa can't be bothered to innovate. 90% of what Amazon has done should have been done by industry incumbents.

Well hopefully amazon will push enough of them to the brink of extinction that they to will innovate or suffer the fate of negative selective pressure.

Often, you're too late and the cake is baked when innovation is reactive.

Shame that we can't do the same in Canada

In that case you are going to find that you quickly lose your best devs. I'm not saying that resume building should be even within the top 5 priorities, but you will want to at least keep it in the back of your mind. It's a balancing act.

Otherwise the solution is to crunch-time people into oblivion and and quickly replace them when they burn out. Not exactly sustainable

Perhaps your view of what's "mediocre" and what's a "gem" is not consistent with the views of Hacker News readers at large

Don't know anything about PhysX, but I'd imagine they would. I'd also imagine that they'll start building in support for their cloud based physics as used in the upcoming Crackdown 3

cloud based physics?? That is an oxymoron, physics is something happening right now, there is no room for latency due to streaming from the server, unless you want rubberbanding.

That deal is one of the most interesting, as it seems they've locked up not just streaming exclusivity, but all subscription services, meaning no HBO

On the flip side, if you were a customer and said developer was purposely scheduling unknown length tasks once every 10 minutes, knowing full well that this would happen, how long would you remain a customer?

Any particular reason for not liking Azure, or just taking out Monday morning frustration on the world?

because microsoft. its e-cool to hate microsoft

No public holiday today over the pond? No wonder this place felt more negative than it should!

Probably because Microsoft was a founding member of the NSA club in 2007.

BTW, since google code will be shutting down soon, will this (and other Google repos) be moved automatically to github?
