Apologies! I figured this was a decent place to put it as many developers read this feed. Didn't realise it was against guidelines. Will make sure to read them the next time I think of posting something.

I often want to copy the name of a file in VSCode without its full or relative path. Just click the thumbs up icon to upvote this feature request. Will save me and hopefully you a ton of time!

If you want it so bad, just create the plugin for your need : https://stackoverflow.com/a/41400631

Edit : And also, please don't do this here.

At DataMinr, we designed our web experience to feel like a native desktop application with multiple windows. Managing and messaging across windows can get messy very quickly In JavaScript. We created a library that lets you do this painlessly

Still, considering the power of visualisations is their ability to tap into our "GPU" the most suitable preview mode would be a thumbnail even if it is targeted towards developers. On that note – no demo links - no sale.

I'm struggling to understand what you're referencing. The database contains both links to the visualization and thumbnail URLs. Chris posted an example of a gallery with thumbnail previews, which you can click on to see the original.

The Google Doc is where the data is curated, and available for developers to make their own visualizations of the data.

My failed chrome extension that acts as a hub for all news. Basically an rss aggregator but included some video and social features as well. The USP and reAson I created it was I didn't like the way google reader was later out and being a designer thought everyone should be able to customize the layout of their reader to their tastes. So I built MESH ( http://www.digi-dil.com/MESH ) which let you design it yourself..

Learned how to code JavaScript doing the project and also helped me a bit landing my current job but nobody except my girlfriend and my mom have it installed only one of which knows how to use it...

I guess it's not specifically or business and unfortunately doesn't attract a ton of content but I think http://ideeeas.com is great.

Let's all be clear here. SOPA is less about piracy and more about censorship.

The internet has evolved into becoming our only defense against people in power ( be they governments or corporations ) conspiring to keep the status quo by keeping information from us. SOPA is their attempt at confiscating this wonderful tool we have for organisation and spreading information.

This discussion is part of a larger debate as to the balancing act of affording unchecked power to a selected group of people. Keep in mind, the ideal of democracy allowing the replacement of these powers DOES NOT WORK in real life. THIS is the real root of the problem. This entire debate reminds me of the Lokpal bill debate going on in India. Essentially asking – How do you police the police?

That's just conspiracy talk. So the same U.S. government that created the internet, and opened it up to the public, is now trying to censor it? I think the politicians are acting honestly and with good intent: their goal is to prevent this tool for communication for being used for criminal purposes, and yes, digital piracy is a crime.

The government doesn't act as a collective unit. It is made up of individual actors, however, it is entirely possible that by making decisions with the best of intentions, they end up gifting certain elements a magic wand to censor any and all activity that may threaten their power.

It's true, you wouldn't call the guys who created the atomic bomb mass murderers, however that doesn't change the disastrous consequences of their actions!

Hey,

I like this. Good work!

I don't know if this is considered blatent advertising or not. But I worked pretty hard on getting my chrome extension replacement for google reader done. I would love it if people would check it out. I made it because I couldn't stand the UI for Google Reader in the first place. I'm open to adding features like short cut keys ( fairly easy to implement) Please check it out at http://www.digi-dil.com/MESH

Was going to give it a whirl until I saw it was a Chrome extension. I use Chrome but thus far resisted any content formatting extensions. Extensions feel a little too ActiveX control-ish for me.

Well I'm not sure how I can convince you other than to say it is quite like running another web page on your browser. Quite literally. Chrome extensions are built using HTML, CSS and Javascript just like anything else on the web.

The reason I think this extension makes sense is purely because users should have control over the way in which they read and see content. I'm not a big fan of restrictions being imposed on us just because some designer somewhere thought that's the way it should be. I've built in an editor that let's you create your own viewing interface. Give it a shot!

No way to import?

I'm currently using JSON to hold feeds but creating a JSON string from OPML should be lemon squeezy... Great idea. Thank you.
