Well, thank you! I still remember seeing the Webflow CSS Playground for the first time. I am a happy customer ever since. It really helped kickstarting my career as a digital strategist.

They weigh 19kg. Their range varies from 60km to 150km. Based on my commute, I would have to carry this bike upstairs about once or twice a week. That just seems highly impractical to me.

Pros: The design and price. This bike would significantly improve my commute and lower my transportation costs.

Cons: Carrying a 19kg (22lbs) e-bike upstairs to my 1st floor (2nd floor) apartment a few times a week to charge it.

19kg = 42lbs

Thats quite light for an e-bike.

There are lots of options with removable batteries, too, but if you can park/lock your bike downstairs maybe you can also just run an extension cord?

Nitpick: 19kg is 42lbs. 22lbs wouldn’t be that much of a problem to carry upstairs :-)

I feel like WeTransfer has got this right. They have wonderful full page ads and are monetizing by selling premium accounts to corporates, which have the ability to change the ads to fit their branding. https://wetransfer.com

WeTransfers user experience is great. I'm not sure the economics are ultimately going to work for them; the funding [1] gives them some runway, but they are already transitioning to more of a cloud storage provider. Simple utilities usually add bloat to drive value for premium plans. [2] In my experience, as they approach Google Drive and Dropbox in features, the product will bloat and become less functional and useful.

Agreed. One of the few websites where I actually enjoy the advertisements and even click on them regularly.

Came across an incredible photo series of their dataserver. http://photos.imgix.com/building-a-graphics-card-for-the-int...

> Apple’s operating system offers numerous advantages over other platforms when it comes to image processing, and it is also favored by many designers for the same reasons. imgix has written tools which allow us to leverage these strengths with our service, using OS X for image operations where it provides superior quality and performance.

What advantages? If you're running these as headless servers, then what advantages does OSX possibly provide over cheaper, more powerful Linux boxes using e.g. ImageMagick (ok, ok, not having massive remote code execution vulnerabilities is one of them).

Same thing jumped out at me--having racks of mac mini's seems like a waste

Does ImageMagick have access to GPU hardware acceleration?

Crazy.

Thanks. Just listened to it. Very interesting! :-)

I believe it's targeted at the prosumer. The group that has grown out of the entry level DJI equipment, but don't want to take the giant leap to their fully customisable range.

Is it allowed for non VU students to attend his final lecture?

It says everyone is invited, so I'd assume it's not just for VU students.

The Aula at the VU is pretty big and I hope there will be enough space for everybody, but regardless they won't complain if non-students join as well (at least I assume so).

I really wanted to attend as well, but unfortunately I will be away from the country in those dates, you can take "my place" if you want :P

The Aula at the VU Amsterdam has 900 seats. With this kind of announcement (and showing up at HN) I guess the seats will be filled quickly. Registration is free, and it is polite and appreciated so the organizers know how many people they can expect, but registration is not required. Anyhow, if you want to attend the farewell lecture: show up early :-)

And it would not surprise me if they relocate the lecture to a bigger auditorium nearby, if interest or registration goes way beyond 900.

Says it's free and open to the public, page has registration fields at the bottom.

I'm really loving the idea and want to propose this to our board of directors, but this won't stand a chance without a trial. Without a trial, the price is a huge setback. And even then the price is pretty steep.

Thank you for the great feedback! We are currently looking into implementing a trial in the next few days.

As promised, we have now introduced a 7 days free trial on all plans!
