I dunno. You could find plenty of people that would make it their full time job to just turn on and off systems for 2M over 20 or maybe 30 years. :)


At 20 years, $2m means you can hire 3 people for $33k a year to do the job. At 30 years, you can only hire 2 people for $33k/year. That figure does not include benefits. That may or may not be viable for 19 schools (depending on how far apart they are, etc).


The $2 million doesn't have to sit around for 20 years in a non-interest bearing checking account. Put $1.5million in a 5 year CD and get another ~$50k/year. Give them other maintenance work to do while they are at the school turning on and off the heat, and it becomes more viable.
