You need an agent for service of process who either resides or does business in the state where you will incorporate. Any attorney could provide that for you, however there are some businesses that specialize in that, that would be quite a lot less expensive.

Alternatively if you have a friend who's willing to be the agent for service of process, you could write the articles of incorporation yourself, then mail them to the secretary of state with a US dollar money order or bank draft for the fee.
None of the directors need reside in the US.
