Ask HN: Overcoming Plateau
3 points by hemantv on March 26, 2015 | hide | past | favorite
I came to know about HN about 5 years and since then I have been following HN pretty regularly.

HN has inspired and made me dream bigger. I moved to SF (from India), learned a lot about new technologies and how startup work in general. Have been working at startups for past 2 years (use to work in Amazon and MS in India before that).

I feel like if given right opportunity I am ready to jump and build something of my own. But I don't necessarily have an idea that I feel strongly about and that I passionately care.

At same time I don't necessarily know what are the real next steps for me, learn more about startup ecosystem, learn more about technology, learn more about other fields. I feel a plateau of sort.

Do you guys have this same feeling? What steps you guys have taken to overcome similar plateau?

I feel one way to overcome this plateau is join some kind of startup group (mastermind from think and grow rich). Do you guys have any startup group that you really respect where you have met some awesome people, seen some cool projects?

Another way I think is having a mentor that guide you. But most of the time the people you seek for mentor are very busy. How do you seek mentor and how do you convince them to mentor you?
