Could Bill Gates write code? (theregister.co.uk)

I've heard anecdotes from Microsoft of some new employees challenging Bill on some obscure tech, only to be out done.

Seems like the wildwest of coding back then. I love reading this stuff. If you are into the history of computing check out Steven Levy's books, http://www.stevenlevy.com/ I have read hackers and crypto and they were decent reads.

That does not prove BG wrote the code - perhaps Allen wrote those "brilliant" parts. Did they comment out which parts each one wrote?

The code for the program was left mostly up to Bill Gates while Paul Allen began working on a way to simulate the Altair with the schools PDP-10

Yeah - if he is such a great coder - why does his software suck?

He's very good at acting like he's isolated and far away from the code - he puts his hands together and talks using the typical pundit bullshit phrases: "what we're seeing more and more is a shift towards...".

It's all an act, like the President pretending he's a Texas cowboy when he went to Harvard and Yale.
