An interesting article (and blog) but I'm amused by the fact that their https certificate is invalid :)


It's only "invalid" according to The Man; if you were running a (hypothetical) crypto-anarchist browser you'd have no problem. :-)


Why does this site require https?


Ian has done this specifically to highlight the problem in the current SSL cert model. Here is his post on why he does that:

His site actually has a valid CACert certificate who do certification via web of trust. The only problem is that mainstream browsers have refused to support CACert.

Because it's run by a cypherpunk. And you can use regular HTTP if your browser complains.


It throws an SSL error for me in Chrome, so isn't going to be opened on my computer. There's no need for it to be in https, so the site owner just lost a reader.

Tip to the author: Don't alienate your readers before they can even read your work.


Heh, My first thought when reading the link title was, "Financial Alochol, Tobacco, and Firearms?" Really its the "Financial Action Task Force"
