So I was chatting with some coworkers at our company's annual "Holiday Party" this weekend. I was talking about some JavaScript problem I'd been working on and casually used the word "iffy" in the solution. They both snickered and asked me if I'd really just called it that. I was kind of shocked because I was sure that's what everyone else was calling it.
Enter this morning, I recall the events of the weekend, including that conversation. So I hop on Google and find that not only does the first sentence of Wikipedia's page on IIFEs support my claims, but so does Ben Alman's blog post about the matter (http://benalman.com/news/2010/11/immediately-invoked-function-expression/).
So of course I message them both with my supporting evidence. Assured of my victory, laughing to myself, I figure: case closed. Well, if you've already looked at the Wiki page for IFFEs you may have noticed that one my coworkers has already gone and "corrected" the Wiki article (unless someone's un-corrected it already).
I can't help but laugh, but also feel kind of violated at the same time.
So... How far would you go to win an argument?
