Show HN: Boop – Self destructing animating text messages

I made boop with a friend; an experimental ephemeral messaging app. Here's the official explanation I wrote:

Boops are self destructing animated text messages. Boops display one word at a time, so the recipient can’t screenshot them. Throw in emoji and you can create animations called Boopmations. Have fast, back and forth private animated text chats with anyone. Boops delete themselves as soon as you read them, so there’s no history of your private chats.

It's the first version so it's fairly raw, but during beta testing it proved really popular. It seems a bit silly at first glance, but quite a few people got hooked on it as it's quite different to stuff before.

Tech: Android and iOS native apps backed by a parse.com backend.

Thoughts on Parse.com: Reasonably good, previously I've used heroku and built my own JSON API for a mobile backend. It was pretty damn fast to create my own custom functions in cloud code and generally quite a good experience. Did encounter quite a few problems on both iOS and Android, particularly around local storage/caching but nothing we couldn't work around for a first version.

Techcrunch covered it today: http://techcrunch.com/2014/11/10/boop-messaging/
