We’re an off-the-record YC company that’s fresh out of the winter ’14 batch and growing fast.
We are looking to hire a Research and Social Media Intern. That is, someone who will write 2 - 3 blog posts each week.
We’re looking for people who are curious, and clear communicators. People who love digging into complicated or intimidating subjects, and pulling out the important, urgent things at their core.
Because what we’re doing is important, and it is urgent, but on its surface it looks boring and intimidating. We’re attacking a wasteful, unsecure part of the home-buying process that costs Americans $50 billion a year, often causes them enormous stress, and sometimes exposes them to scarier things like identity theft.
Come learn about the way a young, fast-growing startup works, while getting enough guidance to craft excellent writing, and enough autonomy to have a real sense of ownership.
Responsibilities specifically include:
* writing posts that are informative and human, useful both in- and outside of our company (this means technical content written in fluid prose) * promoting these posts on social media building our community on social media identifying the appropriate social media (the mortgage industry is (un-)surprisingly aloof on Twitter) * Other various and sundry marketing initiatives.
What we're looking for:
* Someone who can write clearly and persuasively. * Experience with social media is a big positive. * Have some experience with social media (ideally for a business or startup) * Be detail-oriented (with nicely organized details to prove it) * Eager, driven (while still courteous) * Experience with real estate or mortgage is a HUGE plus (but not required) * Someone who can work 10-20 hours a week, (in our San Francisco office and from home)
