Hackers, tell me straight. When you are founding, how are you picking your software? Right now I don't mean hosting; but things like email service providers, web analytics, tools, and so on?
Most folks I've talked to say they're doing google searches, asking their friends, or just "using whatever the other YC founders use."
Is that true for you? Do you just use what your friends use? Are you searching google?
What do you think about the process? Do you like it? Hate it? Don't care at all? Don't even think about it?
And the last time you did buy the SaaS or software, were you happy with it?
