The game is cool, you need to give people a way to invest in it though.

Once you're finished with the game, you should ask for people's emails to post them on a scoreboard.

You can then re-engage people by sending them an email when their rank starts falling etc

I think this has a lot of potential, you just need to harness it in the right way.
