This whole area of browsers really bothers me. I don't get why Safari and Opera don't implement the opensearch protocol, and further don't get why Chrome and Firefox (who do) don't implement the equivalent of IE's isSearchProviderInstalled, so you can stop showing an Add to X link once it is done (without cookies). Actually, in this area IE is the clear winner!
