I recommend you take down this blog as most stolen phones end up being sold and not directly used by the thief him/herself.

So you are probably public-shaming an innocent man.

Buying stolen goods isn't cool.

(I don't think it should be a crime but it is immoral).

He doesn't have anyone to blame but himself.

I've bought used laptops twice... it's really hard to know if they're stolen or not. I usually ask for receits though, but not everyone keeps all receits. Of course, I try to check if the seller "seems legit", whatever that means.

I guess I deserve someone uploading all my private photos to some site to make fun of me, my life and my personal hygiene...

How do you know it's stolen? I've bought used stuff from ebay and other similar sites, I have no way of knowing if it's stolen or not.

>back in germany, a few days after christmas, 4 month after the ibiza trip, i turned on my computer and noticed fifteen new pictures inside my dropbox camera upload folder.

I think you're right. 4 months is more than enough time for a smartphone to be bought and used by a new person.

"when i ran back to the deck chair to get rid of my underpants, i noticed someone lying stiffly under the chair. not moving, not reacting."

Kind of creepy, but still - she didn't actually see his face. Could be someone completely different, like you say.

It turns out, this isn't an uncommon experience. My co-worker is in the exact same situation and she's setup a similar blog here: http://photosfrommystolenphone.tumblr.com/

That one's just depressing. Reading her snarky comments below the pictures of obvious poverty made me feel physical pain. Tell her to stop the blog. That particular blog feels worse to me than the crime that spawned it. Maybe I'm just crazy, though.

must be perspective, I see lots of happy kids, grandma, and the next generation.

never think that money makes for happy family or life, I know more than enough people living at or below the "line" who are better off in more ways than I can count. People with money tend to create their own misery.

Locate those people, send them some money, profit. Should not be so hard given pictures.

And tell them to dump the phone.

It's doable, but you wouldn't do that because you don't really care much.

There’s decency and then there’s charity. A desire for decency doesn’t imply a desire to give charity.

As I wasn't aware that this was posted yesterday i will delete it.

Additionally it didn't occur to me that nobody knows whether this is the thief or not...

Thanks for pointing that out.

This was posted and deleted yesterday too:

Thanks for the link, I went there and downvoted everybody blaming the victim.

Looks like tumbler is a great place to post this stuff. I can see lots more sites like this popping up.

Regardless of the ownership of the phone, it's not OK to invade someone's privacy and publish their copyrighted photos.
