Where are you located? Most git pages (e.g. http://github.com/rails/rails/tree/master or http://github.com/rails/rails/commits/master) should load fast.

That said, we're still working hard to optimize and speed-up every aspect of the site. The dashboard in particular should get a massive speedup soon.
