I agree with both of your comments; however I want to point out that there is a Wendy. Dave Thomas named the restaurant after his daughter, Melinda Lou (her nickname was Wendy).
Sorry for the poor choice of imaginary character, delano! Thanks for pointing out that there is a girl named "Wendy" from whom Dave got the name for his restaurant - it really doesn't change the point, though. There is no "Wendy" in the kitchen whipping up burgers for hungry customers.
