Why do people post this stuff here? This article is non-sense. I barely skimmed it, but most of it was incorrect. No analysis and it just seems like author is trying to get attention.
I think this is the point of all the reasons which Facebook can't use/copy all the twitter/friendfeed features:
The reason it won’t work for Facebook is simple. It is all part of how Facebook defines relationships. While Friendfeed works on a system where anyone can follow anyone else, aside from private subscriptions, Facebook works on a closed 2-way basis.
In facebook I only add my real friends and family, not everyone that seems interesting or post interesting things like I do on FriendFeed or Twitter without the need of that user's approval.
Why is this important? Because in the end it will fail. Facebook is trying to copy one of the most efficent ways to browse content on the internet, Friendfeed.
Sorry, which one is more popular? Facebook or Friendfeed? The masses have clearly chosen Facebook, and it's quite difficult to switch social networks. Even if UI-to-UI Friendfeed is superior, that doesn't mean Facebook will fail. I'd say that this is a failure on Friendfeed's part, if anything, to turn its superior UI into increased usage quickly enough.
