I think you're in a position comparable to me trying to get people to stop throwing their tyres, furniture etc. in the community dumpster (you're supposed to bring them to a municipal recycling center instead).
The people doing it don't care that the HOA (so us) pays a fine for each item and that we were already warned that there will be a doubling or quadrupling of the waste disposal fees. I can ask politely and sometimes it works, but ultimately I can't tell them what to do.
I don't really like tofu and I don't share your values, so I think I'll continue eating chicken breast - just sourced from a place that meets certain standards, as usual.
I don't believe in individual action and regarding eating animals I draw the line at those which don't readily breed in captivity - octopuses for instance.
The literal death camps where we systematically contain, breed and brutally slaughter billions of what sadly are among the most intelligent animals on the planet are a sight to behold. The amount of untold, unimaginable suffering we inflict without even blinking is breathtaking. By far the most psychopathic, murderous intelligence on the planet worries about AI “alignment” and with good reason: we are keenly aware of what a higher intelligence entails.
haha first time I'm called that nice. Might be so. Nevertheless I believe that kind of attitude won't bring change and will sow divisiveness instead of co-operation. Food for thought.
I already eat just poultry and some fish...GP's message is still grating for me. I know i'm not being ideologically consistent by continuing to eat any meat, but it is what it is. I can live with that dissonance.
But you will not bring people over to your side with their approach.
I don't agree with the guy necessarily but he's right, this is the type of change you're not gonna slowly convive people to, there needs to be some schock value involved. Also, if you accept his framing, eating meat is akin to genocide not murder. People tend to have strong reactions to that.
