Poll: Stanford students preferred 22% less salary for annual equity liquidity

I’m one of the founders of Street. We ran a poll with 500+ people in our Stanford network about how they’d choose between two startup offers. Both had the same role, vesting and $1m equity grant. One paid $180k, with the equity locked until an IPO or acquisition. The other paid $140k, but allowed them to sell up to 5% of their shares each year. More than half picked the $140k offer. We work on shareholder liquidity at private companies, which is why we wanted to look into this. These were hypothetical offers, but I thought the result was worth sharing here. Happy to answer questions about the poll.
