US being left behind in EV charging speeds as China goes sub-5 min to 70%

All but the newest Tesla Superchargers top out at 250 kW and 400 V; in the 800 V world, Electrify America maxes out at 350 KW, IONNA’s new machines are rated for 400 kW, and ChargePoint has a 600 kW charger on the market.

Those are the maximum speeds for those networks. Many deployed chargers are significantly lower than that - some even level 2, which is around 10-15 kW, which will take 8 hours or so to charge to max.

for many people, I suspect the charging times will matter less, this makes the most difference on road trips

1. people charge at home

2. people charge while shopping (like me)

I have the Ioniq 6, it does 80% < 20m, which is more than enough while buying groceries

I remain impressed by the advancements that Chinese engineers are making, pushing the frontier out
