I am no fan of AI, but am hoping the solar and battery storage manufacturers are using it to assist in developing higher efficiency panels and cheaper energy storage (materials research, faster testing cycles, more experimentation, etc).
Both technologies I believe are the grim reapers of Big Oil. Once Big Oil falls (and petrostates), then we can see environmental recovery begin.
You can definitely use statistical modelling to advance science and RnD. I'm not seeing a general language model applications in this spaces. I also don't know anything about solar panel or battery manufacturing.
If anything, LLMs siphoning GPUs make doing this research harder as they're not available.
