Just a man on the street here—I sense it's more a backlash against tech-bros in general. People are seeing the world getting worse from tech and they're taking their pitchforks to the data centers and Flock cameras.

(Of course I might simply be projecting.)

I can almost guarantee there's a good bit of that also involved in addition to all the other concerns and issues folks also rightly have.

Not to disagree, but I suspect there wouldn't be such a backlash if the same people were building parks/forests/playgrounds etc. There are valid issues around datacentres although they might be getting bad press because of their association with tech-bros.
