The largest private single owner of farmland in the US is Bill Gates. [1] He owns < 1% of all land, but it's still a telling fact. In total, owners own more than 70% of farms, but only about 35% of farmland. The remaining 65% of farmland is either partial ownership (~55%), or tenant farmers (~10%). [2]
