i've seen this kind of thing nearly first hand and have similar sentiments...
btw, my manager in that conversation later said "it doesn't matter, all code will be done by ai, so we better get on board"; i think there is a lot of fomo/cult-like thinking going on (its impressive technology with alot of capital behind it so who can blame them i guess)
