Ask HN: Do you know anyone at Meta?
4 points by finefine 17 hours ago | hide | past | favorite | 5 comments
Hi, there as an instagram account who has a naked picture of my girlfriend pretending to be her in the profile picture.

An ex bf of her made the account and he has also made other fake accounts sending intimate images of her in several platforms. We just want the instagram account to be eliminated as this is the first thing that comes up when someone looks up her name in instagram.

We already tried reporting it in instagram and they didnt accept the report. The account is still up there. She already got fired from a previous job thanks to this mans actions.

Please help us get in touch with someone at Meta/facebook to resolve this issue.

Contact us isgoingtobefine@protonmail.com from an official Meta email account to give you the details of the account

Have you filed a police report? This is a criminal complaint in every state, and some states allow for an injunction against the platform to remove the content. Federal statue also appears to apply.

File a police report as soon as possible. I’d also recommend filing a complaint with your states’ Attorney General if Meta is ignoring the report. Resources below.

> S.146 - Take It Down Act

> Violators are subject to mandatory restitution and criminal penalties, including prison, a fine, or both. Threats to publish intimate visual depictions of a subject are similarly prohibited and subject to criminal penalties.

> Separately, covered platforms must establish a process through which subjects of intimate visual depictions may notify the platform of the existence of, and request removal of, an intimate visual depiction including the subject that was published without the subject’s consent. Covered platforms must remove such depictions within 48 hours of notification. Under the act, covered platforms are defined as public websites, online services, or applications that primarily provide a forum for user-generated content.

Thank you for your comment. we're not in the US and neither is the perpetrator. I'm going to try the take it down FTC page to push Meta to take action. I havent tried a police report because the legal system in my country is a mess

This should be a reportable crime in many if not most countries.

My apologies, good luck.

Report!
