AI written article using an AI generated photo complaining about AI slop gatekeeping. We should 100% be shaming people for this, I'm all on board for that type of gatekeeping
Of course it's gatekeeping, that's obvious. What's a little less obvious is that the gatekeepers are using bots for their anti-slop SLOP. It takes just a bit of fine-tuning to make a low-param LLM work well as a generator of anti-slop SLOP.
This form of gatekeeping is so fiercely defended because it's one of the cheapest, easiest and with effects that far surpass its cost. It's beloved by bot-farms everywhere and old as the world, or at least as the first story about the thief yelling "catch the thief".
lol. 'AI shaming'. This article serves as a way to stop people from calling out AI slop and it just becomes accepted. Not a world I want.
The problem is that so many people, that have no argument or critical thinking skills, are using AI as a way to feel smarter. It's only going to get worse.
Anyone that has been reading actual human content for years can immediately tell when something has been written by AI. If people actually used AI for research instead of just copying and pasting output from ChatGPT, we wouldn't be using these terms.
I read a study that over 50% of the people reading things online, can't read past a 6th-grade level. It wouldn't take much for AI to fool them.
Platforms are to blame. Get better at policing AI slop content and we won't keep calling it out.
edit: whenever gatekeeping is apparent or implied, look to the key, or the keyholders.
