I built OpenMarker after a student staff meeting where delayed feedback came up repeatedly. Students often wait 1–2 weeks past deadlines due to staff shortages and marking overload. Since much of the work is structured written assignments, it’s a good fit for LLMs. OpenMarker is a simple, locally run agent that automates repetitive marking tasks, aiming to reduce turnaround time and free educators to focus on actually supporting students.
