Before AirPods, I was running AA batteries through my cassette player and then CD player every few days, as were thousands of us. I don't think the rice-sized battery or electronics here are worth being upset over.

My original 1st Gen AirPods still work - albeit only about 30 mins

My original 1st Gen AirPods Pro (2019) still work great and last a 2-3 hours listening to music.

I'm not sure something this small and useful is a tragedy when it lasts 3-5 years.
