Hi HN,

I’m Sarafina, an engineer at Gamma, and I’m here to share something we’ve been building the Gamma API, now in public beta.

We originally built Gamma as a way to turn rough content into shareable decks and documents, a kind of design layer for non-designers. Over time, we got more automation requests to enable quickly creating new sales pitches, lesson plans, or meeting summaries.

The Generate API takes in raw input like text, meeting notes, or CRM data and returns polished content. You can generate:

Slide decks

Docs

Social carousels (LinkedIn-style)

All fully designed, brandable, and exportable to PDF or PPTX.

How it works:

You pass a POST request with the input and config (tone, format, theme, etc.)

The API responds with a Gamma link (hosted doc), or export file

Works with 60+ languages, customizable themes, and AI image support

We’d love feedback, especially from developers thinking about “visualization layer” workflows inside internal tools or automation stacks. AMA!

the most important thing for me is the system of record which is the CMS. and the secondary system of record: Canva, Google Slides, Figma. you don't zero shot a deck. but you gamma helps in the supply chain for mid-level automations and landing the initials set of commits towards a medium-scoped project.

for commercial usage:

1. brand kit is non-negotiable for adoption 2. data: must hydrate accurate data, keep meta-data to audit via claim extraction

feature request:

1. visual direction (slides are too cute, they need layers: https://youtu.be/pUau6gmdoI4?si=BeEFkbV1lzMMjE2w) 2. audio direction 3. media support: youtube, loom

visual and audio branding are essential because production-level quality is what sustains watch time on assets. if you can automate things like colorgrading, painting a soundtrack, curing audio, etc that would be amazing.

also, i went to high school with norbert (also on eng). great job y'all! keep going!

Once I create a presentation, can I hot-link to a png of it as a cover image? I don't know if I need the full richness of a ppt/pdf off the gate but image gen with solid text layout would be huge.

One thing I was wondering if I could use this for is to take a meeting transcript and make a slick meeting presentation summary with visuals. I wonder what other use cases people have
