Absolutely no brainer. Track and target incoming swarm carriers, faster first strike alert, capable of high resolution scanning AND diving for cover at insane speeds due to lack of crew, no need to resupply, probable solar charging capability on the larger design - the x shape would allow it to surface travel at angles to follow the sun.
