I thought this was the other way ‘round: Chromium announces it’s adopting/deprecating some tech, and web devs scramble to adapt their websites so they will still work as-expected in Chrome.
This too. Add or remove features from de-facto standard. Both works, to keep the barrier of maintaining any modern browser engine at the skyhigh $1B/year price tag.
This results in only two modern browser engines available: chromium (by google), and FF (mostly sponsored by google). Very sad state.
