Like anything else in life, if they see business, they increase price. It was Vmware and many others.

I see no wrong on doing that, so you if think it brings value to you, pay the price.

Most of the times, you will do well with open source products that are also free.

Vscodium is nice, Zed is also good, but you can use Vim for programming.
